Tilting at Wind Turbines
Well, I promised I wouldn’t get political, but bear with me. Last night my husband and I watched the nightly news (ABC with Charles Gibson) from bed thanks to our DVR and at the end of the broad cast there was a story about the wind turbines near Palm Springs CA. I’ve actually seen those turbines many times because my grandfather used to live in Palm Springs, and I’ve always thought they were a great invention. Wind into energy – brilliant!
Anyway, the whole story was slanted in such as way as to portray these glorious features of wind energy to be eyesores and not worth a hill of beans. Basically a ‘hill of beans’ would look better to some citizens of Palm Springs than those white whirling wind turbines. One man said that the wind turbines destroy the beautiful hills and landscape that surround his house. Wait a sec. Those wind turbines which produce clean energy in the form of wind are destroying the nature that surrounds him? Sure they are big and white, but in a few years all the haze and smog from our C02 emissions will surly block out their view. Just ponder that conundrum for a minute if you will.
