I grew up in Bakersfield and absolutely loved eating at the wool growers. I was googling for a recipe to make pickled tongue and happened upon your blog. I enjoyed it very much.

Kelly remembers this…There was a real slimy guy wandering the streets of downtown San Luis and Carol remarked,”there’s a guy who doesn’t need a spinal chord”. As if to say, “you have one, nice to see that you’re using it so constructively”….Same can be said for peoples’ brains. Have a good superbowl party & remember, it doesn’t take a Masters degree to work at Trader Joes! Love-doug

I had a job interview before I became a quad. I have also been blind since birth. I sat down in the guy’s office with my guide dog laying next to me and he proceeded to tell me all about how he was missing a toe and every detail about it! I got the job, but they had to get me a computer and set it up with the right programs so I could use it before I started. I ended up starting another job instead, but I kept thinking how weird it would be working there knowing all of the intimate details about the guys toe (or lack of toe) and how he felt about not having it.

I went to Disney World in Dec. 2006. I was 24, but I’ve always wanted to go and I loved it! It was just me, my guide dog and boyfriend. I’m planning on going with more people next time though so there will be someone there to stay with my guide/service dog while I’m on the rides. The last time I only went on the rides she could come on with us. It’s also nice to have be in an environment that is so wheelchair accessible for a change!
